From Surreal to Singletrack My Lens Has Always Told Stories

Hey! I’m Savanna a photographer based in Rotorua, and the face behind Photography by Savanna. I studied a Bachelor of Media Arts, majoring in photography, where I explored surrealism, conceptual work, and visual storytelling. My early projects were all about creating dreamlike, emotional images art that told deeper stories beyond the surface.

These days, you’ll find me swapping surreal backdrops for dirt trails and golden forest light. I’ve shifted into the world of mountain bike photography because, honestly, I fell in love with the sport. The energy, the community, the chaos, the calm it’s all there. And there’s nothing better than capturing those fleeting in-between moments: the laugh at the top of a climb, the muddy crash followed by a grin, or the connection between a parent and child on a ride.

I work with families, individual riders, and event organizers, offering down-to-earth, natural photography that reflects the realness of riding and the joy of being outside. I want your photos to feel like a memory not a photoshoot.
